Special Assistant to the Deputy, The Office of the Secretary of the State of Connecticut
Tina Prakash has served the administration of Secretary of the State Denise Merrill for over 8 years. Prior to that, she served Secretary Merrill in her role as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives for 3 years, including as Clerk of the Appropriations Committee, Budget Aide and Internship Supervisor. Before her time in public service, Tina spent over 13 years in the private sector working as an entertainment center manager and then as a retail manager.
At the Office of the Secretary of the State, Tina serves as the agency’s Internship Coordinator, Process Improvement Coordinator, and as project manager for several major projects including: agency wide reorganization; agency move and change management coordination; and facilitator of strategic planning. She also organizes civic engagement projects, researches and authors historical and policy papers, develops civic education materials and serves as the agency’s Interim Communications Director as needed.
Tina has a Master of Arts in Survey Research from the University of Connecticut and has completed several masters-level public policy courses. She graduated with a BS-ED in Secondary English from Central Connecticut State University. In her spare time, she currently volunteers for the East Hartford Census Complete Count Committee. Tina enjoys spending time with her partner and his 9-year-old son, as well as traveling, hiking, cooking and playing with her two dogs.
