Taijah Anderson

MPA Fellows, Class of 2022

Legislative Liaison, Mayoral Aide, City of New Haven

Taijah graduated from UConn with a Political Science degree in 2014. She began her career in public service as an intern working for the Honorable Joseph D. Courtney, Federal representative who is elected to serve the 2nd Congressional District of Connecticut. She stayed on as a full time staff member, eventually serving as an immigration caseworker and coordinator for that constituency for over six years. There she gained experience and knowledge in a diverse group of fields including agriculture advocacy, arts advocacy, and municipal outreach and assistance.

Recently Taijah joined the mayoral staff of first term Mayor Justin Elicker of New Haven, Connecticut. There she is an aide and the mayoral liaison to the sitting legislative body of the city, the New Haven Board of Alders. She was attracted to the UConn MPA Fellows program to gain a deeper understanding of legislative processes and the mechanisms by which it influences our diverse populations.
