MPA Fellows, Class of 2023

Eligibility Services Specialist, CT Department of Social Services

Sarah is an Eligibility Services Specialist with the Department of Social Services where she has worked for nine years. At DSS she is responsible for determining and maintaining eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid, and cash programs. Her desire to pursue an MPA stems from this work. She hopes to gain a knowledge base from which she can evoke changes and improvements at DSS which will be of benefit to both the employees and clientele.

Sarah is also pursing Certification in Nonprofit Management. With an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science from Simmons University in Boston and graduate Certification in Environmental Education from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center, she has many connections with environmental nonprofits in both Connecticut and Minnesota. Further, she hopes to pursue creating her own local nonprofit focusing on maternal health necessities for new mothers.

In her free time Sarah likes to spend time with her family and friends, play board games, build Lego, and travel.
