Associate e-Builder, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority
Ryan Kliszewski is currently working for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) as an Associate e-Builder System Administrator. Ryan is a part of the PMIS team responsible for implementing the construction management software on MBTA capital projects, configuration management of the system, and training internal and external users.
Ryan believes the core competencies he developed in the MPA program have been important in his work experiences thus far – to lead and manage in public governance, to operate effectively in a professional workplace, and to communicate and interact productively with a diverse and changing workforce. Project Management in the Public Sector, Theory and Management of Public Organizations, and Human Resource Management have likely been the most relevant courses in his work experiences.
Ryan’s advice to current students is to keep an open mind towards all industries and roles in your job search. You never know what the combination of your diverse experiences could lead to in the future. Network with your instructors, classmates, and coworkers to improve skills in the software you want to learn or gain knowledge in the field that inspires you. Also, keep your LinkedIn profile up to date; make it appear as professional as possible, and regularly engage with content.
In his free time Ryan enjoys electronic music, computer games, lifting weights, long-distance running, ultimate frisbee, reading mystery and personal development books, and both domestic and international travel.
