Expected MPA 2018
Nicky is a first year MPA student from Milford, Connecticut. She graduated from the University of Connecticut in May 2016 with a dual degree in Psychology and Human Development Family Studies (HDFS). As an undergrad she volunteered as a First Year Experience mentor and worked in the Center for Students with Disabilities as a student employee. She has continued her work with the center this year as a Graduate Assistant where she manages the front office, provides accommodations to a caseload of students, and assists with the development of budgets. In her free time Nicky enjoys hiking, baking and being with her friends.
As someone who has always wanted a profession that involves helping people, Nicky saw the MPA program as an opportunity to explore how she can connect her background of social sciences to implementation through policy. She knew that continuing her education at UConn would give her the best experience due to its successful internship program and focus on providing students the skills required to excel at a job in the field.
After graduating Nicky is hoping to build a career working for a non-profit organization. She is passionate about education and hopes to work towards quality education for low income areas and at risk populations.
