Michael Bzdyra is a Government Affairs Consultant with Government Affairs Group of Murtha Cullina LLP.
Prior to his current position, Mike was appointed by Governor Malloy in March 2016 to serve as Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), leading 800 employees, managing a $66 million budget, and serving millions of customers annually until 2019. As Commissioner, he focused on improving customer service and streamlining processes through a data-driven, disciplined approach throughout the agency. Prior to his role as Commissioner, Mike served as the Deputy Commissioner of DMV and was the Executive Assistant to a previous DMV Commissioner from 2011 to 2014.
Prior to the DMV, Michael served in various positions in state government, including Government Relations Liaison at the Connecticut Materials Innovation and Recycling Authority. He also worked at the Connecticut General Assembly where he served as a Senior Policy and Communications Specialist for the Senate Democrats Office from 1989 to 1998.
He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Connecticut.
