The Open Hearth
I was born, raised, educated, worship, and still live in the city that I love, Hartford. I live with my wonderful and patient husband, Greg Rose, and our big, loving orange cat, Bertie. My mom recently moved in with us as she is approaching 90, so we have a full house!
Hartford has made me the woman I am today. I am the Executive Director of The Open Hearth. The Open Hearth is a local nonprofit in Hartford that works with men experiencing homeless, addiction, unemployment, and other issues. At The Open Hearth, we help men make their way back to their families, employment, society, and ultimately permanently housed.
I have a unique perspective and a specialized skill set as a nonprofit Executive Director, a Hartford City Councilperson (my second time serving – the first being 20 years ago!), a former 25-year employee of United Technologies, and my other work and life experiences.
I am excited most days to see what life has to offer. I reflect daily on living through the last year and a half under the pressure of COVID. I am grateful every day.
