Deputy Fire Chief, City of Hartford


James is currently a Deputy Fire Chief – Tour Commander assigned to the fire suppression division of the Hartford Fire Department. As a Tour Commander he supervises a shift of 73 personnel and is in charge of all emergency response operations in the City of Hartford during his assigned tour. In his 18 year career he has previously served as a District Chief, Captain, and Lieutenant.

He is also appointed as the local fire marshal in his home town. In this position he supervises deputy fire marshals and is in charge of administering the fire code inspection, fire investigation, and public fire and life safety education programs.

James holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Fire Science from the University of New Haven. He has also taught undergraduate courses as an adjunct instructor at Capital Community College.
