Senior Manager of External Affairs, Yankee Institute for Public Policy
Currently Isabel works as Senior Manager of External Affairs at Yankee Institute for Public Policy. In her current job position, Isabel collaborates with the policy team and contracts lobbyists to create and implement legislative strategy. She lobbies on behalf of the organization by developing key relationships and writing legislative testimony collaborates with an out-of-state PR team to handle social media accounts, advertisements, email campaigns, mailers, and policy briefs. Isabel creates weekly legislative update email with a reach of over 7,000 contacts to provide elected officials, lobbyists, and the public with information about the progress of the legislative session and important upcoming hearings and events. She develops marketing and outreach plans for the release of research reports and articles in order to gain the most effective outreach.Isabel also organizes monthly meetings of constituents to discuss important current events and issue areas facing the state.
Prior to taking the job Isabel had an Internship with the ACLU and Yankee Institute focused on legislative outreach and government affairs. She is constantly using her skills in areas of policy analysis, education policy as well as general management information for nonprofit organizations she received from her degree.
Isabel Blank worked for the YWCA in Hartford, Connecticut during her Internship and Professional Practice Program (IPP.) Her advice for the current students is that there are so many alumni that work throughout the state in all sorts of different roles — let people know that you’re an alum, and chances are if they are involved in CT government or nonprofits, they might be too! She has made many connections this way.
Currently Isabel lives in West Hartford. In her free time she enjoys doing Crossfit training at Crossfit Hartford, trying to teach her cat, Louie, how to walk on a leash, and trying to get to every brewery in Connecticut.
