Boyd carries a plethora of experience which include an E-1 electrical license, an HIC (Home Improvement License), and a Mechanical Engineering degree from Waterbury State Technical College in 1993. There, he collaborated in building the first electric car in his shop. He has run an electric motor and repair business since 1984, which now includes rebuilding and troubleshooting CNC equipment and complete redesign of mechanical systems. Having graduated from UConn in 2018, Boyd then became a Shriner clown when his niece underwent a leg amputation due to cancer. The Shriners fitted her with a prosthetic, which awarded gives him the opportunity to aid children and provide them a second chance without cost to their families.
