Vice President, Travelers Foundation
Tara N. Spain is director of community relations at Travelers and vice president of the Travelers Foundation. She manages strategy and operations for the company’s philanthropic arm, as well as key partnerships throughout the United States. Prior to her role in community relations, she was a marketing project manager and a business-to-business account manager with Citigroup and Travelers. Tara is also personally very active in the Hartford community, serving as a board member of Reset, a nonprofit that helps social entrepreneurs succeed, past Chair of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hartford and Vice President of Programs for the Greater Hartford Chapter of the Links, Inc.
Tara has received several honors and awards including, but not limited to, Business Mentor of the Year from INROADS, Forty Under 40 by Hartford Business Journal, Volunteer of the Year from the Urban League of Greater Hartford, Outstanding Community Service award from Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and the Recent Distinguished Alumni Award from University of Connecticut Department of Public Policy.
Ms. Spain holds a B.S. in Marketing from Virginia State University, Magna Cum Laude, and a Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Social Policy from University of Connecticut, where she was inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha National Honor Society for Public Affairs. Ms. Spain also earned a Certificate in Community Involvement Leadership from the Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Ms. Spain currently lives in Hartford, Connecticut.
