Expected MPA 2018
Muhammad is a first year Master of Public Administration (MPA) student. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Connecticut, where he gained a tremendous interest in economic policy. He believes that the program will be a perfect platform for him to merge his interests in policy analysis with the skillsets needed in public management. With an academic background in economics and some work experience in the private sector, Muhammad is looking for a common ground between the public and private industry. He hopes to give back to the community he lives in and make a positive impact on people’s lives.
In his first year as an MPA student, Muhammad enjoyed an encouraging, helpful, and inclusive environment. He believes networking is essential in career development, and thinks the Department of Public Policy offers plenty of networking opportunities to students who are looking for guidance in the field of public administration. He also thinks it is crucial to start to focus on career planning as early as possible. “You need to know what you want to do in your life and career before you choose a program,” says Muhammad. “It is important to set your goals first and then figure out a way to get there.” After graduation, Muhammad hopes to begin a career focusing on sustainable economic development. Outside of class, Muhammad enjoys traveling internationally with his family and learning about new cultures and traditions. He also enjoys reading business journals and has a passion for cars.
