MA, Survey Research, 2015

Management Consulting Analyst, Accenture

Alexandra (Allie) Hartman graduated from UConn with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2009 and from the University of Hartford with her Master of Arts degree in Psychology with a focus in Organizational Behavior in 2013. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Survey Research from UConn in December 2015 and a Master of Science in Business Analytics and Project Management from UConn in May 2016. She is originally from Danvers, MA, but now lives in Manchester, CT. She enjoys traveling, binge watching Netflix shows and cheering for the Pats and the Huskies. Allie is a Founding Member and the Vice President of Research and Insights of CareerEngage Boston, a professional organization for young professionals who are interested in progressing and taking responsibility for managing their careers.

While attending a UConn Alumni networking event, she learned of the Master of Arts in Survey Research program at UConn and applied. When deciding to join the MSR program, Allie was drawn to the flexibility of a fully online program, being a part of a UConn Graduate Program with distinguished faculty made up of practitioners in the survey research field and the idea of returning to UConn for a graduate degree. Although she already had a Master’s degree, she felt she needed more experience in statistical methodology and applied coursework before heading out into “the real world.”

While at UConn, Allie was the Assistant Vice President of Marketing for the UConn Graduate Consulting club and Vice President of Membership and Marketing for the UConn Graduate Chapter of Net Impact. She worked at the UConn Center for Career Development as the Assessment and Statistics Graduate Assistant, where she provided oversight to all assessment and statistics initiatives in the department. She also worked as a Research Assistant with Dr. Jennifer Dineen, the Master’s Program in Survey Research Program Director. In this role, Allie consulted with clients to create and modify their survey research instruments, implemented the surveys and reported results to clients and key stakeholders.

Allie is linking her experiences in organizational psychology, analytics, survey research and project management into a career in management consulting at Accenture in Hartford, CT as a Management Consulting Analyst. She is in the Talent and Organization practice within the Health and Public Service sector. She mainly focuses on change management and training development and support within a client-facing role.

Being a big proponent of “everything happens for a reason,” her advice to prospective students is to try as many new things as possible, while in the safety of graduate school… you’ll never know what future opportunities may come of them.
