Fletcher presented his most recent research titled, Using Genetic Lotteries within Families to Examine the Causal Impact of Poor Health on Academic Achievement. This study explores the impact of poor health conditions on academic outcomes in students.

MPA and Economics Launch Dual Degree

The MPA program and the Economics Department are teaming up to offer a dual MPA and M.A. in Economics that can be completed in two calendar years of full time study. The dual degree is of particular interest to students with an undergraduate background in economics, strong mathematical abilities, and a desire to work in the public policy arena with government; "think tanks;" or policy/program evaluation organizations.

CT State Budget Director Speaks at UConn's

On November 30, 2006, Robert Genuario, Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management (OPM), spoke at the University of Connecticut's Department of Public Policy/Urban and Community Studies speaker series about current fiscal issues facing Connecticut. Although the budget is currently in surplus, OPM projects that by FY 2008 the cost of current services will exceed revenues, even excluding any new initiatives. In addition, Connecticut has one of the highest debt levels in the nation.

UConn MPA Student Wins Prestigious National Award

Noelle Denny-Brown, a University of Connecticut, Master of Public Administration (MPA) recent graduate, is the recipient of the 2006 National Pi Alpha Alpha Best Paper Award. She was given this award for her MPA capstone research project, which she completed this past spring.
