UConn’s place in Survey Research
For over 35 years, the University of Connecticut has been a hub in the field of Survey Research. Beginning with the hosting of Elmo Roper and George Gallup’s Roper Center to the establishment of the UConn Poll, UConn is committed to the teaching and application of high quality survey methodology and practice.
UConn offers three online graduate-level options to advance students’ knowledge in the practice of survey research, data collection, data analysis, and public opinion psychology for use in fields such as political polling, market research, and public health.
At UConn, we train survey research professionals, in both traditional and cutting-edge methodologies, to gather data about attitudes, opinions, behaviors, or demographics and analyze that information to answer complex questions about society. Survey researchers play a critical role in market research, which allows businesses to measure the effectiveness of media campaigns, determine the feasibility of new products and services, and make strategic business decisions. Public opinion polling is an avenue of survey research which helps public and political leaders, as well as non-profit organizations, to gauge public opinion on a variety of topics. Surveys are also an effective tool for policy analysis and program evaluation.
